Dear Teachers Prep Families,As we embark on the new year, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your unwavering partnership and support. Together, we are committed to fostering an environment where every student at Teachers Preparatory High School can thrive and achieve their fullest potential. Our mission to cultivate a community of lifelong learners and our vision to empower students to become innovative leaders in their communities remain at the forefront of everything we do.This school year has already been marked by remarkable achievements and enriching experiences. Our students have actively engaged in community and academic activities, preparing them for life beyond high school. They have had the opportunity to converse with the Brooklyn Borough President, offering their insights on community quality of life issues. Our seniors have been diligent in their college application process, with 92% having completed their applications and many already receiving offers. Our freshmen are exploring their career paths through the Future Ready NYC education pathway, gaining valuable insights from professionals and community stakeholders. We are proud to celebrate our students' induction into the National Honor Society, a testament to their hard work and dedication. Our ongoing partnerships with colleges and universities continue to pave the way for our students' post-secondary success. Meanwhile, our dedicated teachers are engaging in innovative professional learning and data review to ensure that each student receives the individualized instruction they need to succeed.Furthermore, we have strengthened the relationships with our families having held several events during the first half of the school year bringing students, family members and school staff together. We encourage you to continue to bring new ideas so that we can grow even closer as a community. As we move toward the second half of the school year, we are focused on increasing our attendance and graduation rates. We encourage all students to attend school daily, on time, and prepared to learn at high levels. Our Saturday Regents Preparation Program will resume, and we urge any student sitting for a Regents exam in January to attend. We deeply value our partnership with families and look forward to a successful year of teaching and learning. Please feel free to contact us at 718-498-2605 with any questions or concerns. Our doors are always open, and we are here to support you and your child every step of the way.Warm regards,Dr. Jennifer Shirley-BrownPrincipalTeachers Preparatory High School

Peer Group Connect
Upcoming Event: PGC Retreat, October 2024
Peer Group Connection (PGC) is an evidence-based program that supports and eases students’ successful transition from middle to high school. The program taps into the power of high school juniors and seniors to create a nurturing environment for incoming freshmen. Once per week, pairs of junior and senior peer leaders meet with groups of 6-8 freshmen in outreach sessions designed to strengthen relationships among students across grades. These peer leaders are simultaneously enrolled in a daily, for-credit, year-long leadership course taught by school faculty during regular school hours.
Services found that, among other major results, PGC improves the graduation rates of student participants in an inner city public school by ten percentage points and cuts by half the number of male students who would otherwise drop out.
